Is it worthwhile to create an environmental tax for the Brazilian aviation sector?
Concern about global warming is a widely discussed topic around the world, leading several countries to adopt measures to discourage greenhouse gas emissions. One such public policy involves environmental taxation of air transport. To estimate the consequences of this type of tax in Brazil, researchers at ITA (Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica) are conducting an econometric study and a simulation of the application of an environmental tax in the sector, aiming to demonstrate that this environmental tax has economic and social impacts that should be considered in the analysis of implementing a similar measure in the country.
