We all have dreams. Many want to buy a car, renovate their house, get a dog; the possibilities are endless. But what if that dream is to live abroad and start life from scratch? Put that way, it sounds like a very challenging experience – and it really is – however, it has become common among young people to have this kind of desire, as an international experience can bring many good things when embarking on this new reality.
This is the case of Eduardo Alves, a young entrepreneur from Brasília who makes his own brigadeiros (Brazilian chocolate fudge balls) and sells them at traffic lights in Brasília. All this after he decided to become an entrepreneur so he could invest in his studies in Dublin, Ireland. In this context, a question arises: why leave your country in search of the uncertain?
An exchange program can open many doors, both professional and otherwise, but some people want to escape the infamous "rat race," which consists of the endless loop of work-home-home-work, followed by 15 days of vacation a year, and then it all starts again.

According to the Brazilian newspaper Brasil Turismo, the most sought-after destinations for exchange students in 2019 were: Canada, England, the United States, Australia, and Ireland. It is in this sense that many want to rediscover themselves in another country, seeking adventure, making new friends, boosting their resume, learning English, and developing their independence. And Eduardo is not the only one with an entrepreneurial mindset to achieve his goals. This text is written by someone in that situation. As a student of Advertising and Public Relations, I know the importance of an exchange program for my academic and professional career. During the pandemic, I took the initiative to create the... @julyagourmet, an online store specializing in the sale of sweet pastries, with the goal of studying in Melbourne, Australia.
In this scenario, many young people can also realize their dreams through entrepreneurship and strive daily to achieve them as quickly as possible. So, how far will your dream take you?
