What might distract you while using an app or visiting a website for the first time?! Even if you can't answer that question yourself, there's someone who should always be thinking about it: the UX professional, the one who works focused on the user experience.
You've most likely come across some of these terms online: UX Design, UX Writing, User Experience e UX Researcher, These are some of the possibilities for working in a market that is constantly growing.
But what exactly is working in UX?
According to Polli Lopes, UX Designer & Researcher, "it's about having a holistic vision focused on the user." This statement by the designer at Comunicação em Pauta, an event promoted by IDP, makes it even clearer that it's an area 100% centered on the use of the final product.
And thinking about user experience isn't just about creating pretty screens, websites, or apps. It's a job that goes beyond design; you must know your audience and use resources from various fields of knowledge, such as psychology.
In summary, working with a focus on user experience can be defined as:
- to better understand the user and their needs;
- Understand the technologies your user uses daily;
- to establish strategies to improve the interaction between users and technology.
With all this in mind and well applied, it's possible to avoid the fate of going viral because people didn't understand your product. Like the milk carton with a lid that went viral on every possible social media platform in the video of the user cutting the carton open on the side.
The work market
Possibly a result of the digital transformation era in large companies, the UX market has been growing for several years. Companies have understood the importance of this area for their businesses, and this is reflected in a high demand for professionals focused on user experience.
Between 1983 and 2017, the number of UX professionals grew from 1.000 to approximately 1 million. This figure is the result of research conducted by NN/g, which also projected market growth until 2050, predicting an increase to around 100 million people working in user experience.
As you can see in the graph, we are at the beginning of the growth curve. But what does that mean?! This is your gateway to a constantly growing market and also the best time to consume content and learn more about the field.
There's no shortage of UX content online, with numerous courses, the famous marathons, etc. But to improve your experience here, we're going to make your search easier and send you directly to the open class. UX: User Experience, from IDP, taught by Bruno Deos
