Social Movements and Human Rights

Study group

About the study group

The Study Group on Social Movements and Human Rights aims to study the theory of social movements in the construction of human rights in Brazil.

Group proposal

The proposal of the Study Group “Social Movements and Human Rights” is to promote dialogue based on theoretical frameworks about the subcategories that make up what we usually call social movements.

The 2013 protests in Brazil, with their fragmented demands presented by diffuse groups and the questioning of the model of social representation exercised through political leaders, brought new perspectives to the Brazilian tradition of popular participation that predates the constituent assembly.

It is from these elements that the study group's trajectory will be organized to offer students an interdisciplinary perspective in their graduation and training process.
