About the study group

The Center for Studies in Data and Computational Journalism (DataJor) was created in 2021 as the academic arm of the MBA in Data Journalism at the Brazilian Institute of Teaching, Development and Research (IDP), by professors Marília Gehrke and Taís Seibt. Since 2024, it has been linked to the Master's Program in Digital Communication of the IDP's Postgraduate Program in Communication. It seeks to stimulate reading and debate about the use of data in communication, as well as to understand audience perceptions of information and disinformation in digital spaces.

Group proposal

  • Theoretical and practical objectives:
  • To theoretically situate Data-Driven Journalism and Computational Journalism within the scope of Digital Journalism;
  • To understand the state of the art and the development of Data-Driven Journalism in Brazil;
  • To disseminate internationally the research on Data-Driven Journalism conducted in Brazil;
  • To analyze audience perceptions regarding journalistic content published on digital platforms;
  • To study ways to combat misinformation on digital platforms;
  • To reflect, from a journalistic perspective, on ways to restore trust in the news;
  • Understanding consumption habits regarding journalistic information;
  • Participate in national and international conferences;
  • Testing methodologies.
