The IDP's purpose is to make knowledge an instrument for transforming society, institutions, and the rule of law. In addition to being widely disseminated within the Institute, this idea, which has become an institutional mantra, is put into practice daily, as all IDP studies and research are geared towards the application of knowledge.

The Institute developed Study Centers that produce reflections and works guided by a practical focus on knowledge. Similarly, through CEPES, it created Study Groups and Research Groups also oriented towards an applied academic approach.

This means that the themes addressed by both the Centers and the Groups are chosen for their effective usefulness in improving society, institutions, the functioning of the State, and the development of the country, and not merely for the simple enjoyment of the researchers.
