Compliance during and after the pandemic.

Compliance in any organization, whether public or private, is based on the prevention of conflicts and risks and, therefore, advocates the development of control and monitoring mechanisms to ensure compliance with pre-established internal and external rules. It should be understood as an action involving everyone within the organization, and should also have a leading figure/main manager who will support all the activities necessary for the internal development of processes: the human and financial resources available for this purpose.

This group aims to discuss, study, and research diverse topics arising from the context of compliance management (in the Brazilian and global scenario) applied to the current pandemic and post-pandemic period. We know that various professional and personal relationships will undergo changes, and these may impact, positively and negatively, various productive sectors, as well as public management. The intention is to bring together professionals from various sectors – public and private – as well as professors from other higher education institutions to enrich the research of specialization, master's, and doctoral students with theoretical and practical support, allowing for a comprehensive view of Compliance Management, Corporate Governance and Integrity, and Risk Management, not limited to the Anti-Corruption Law but encompassing the learning process and management of human behavior in pursuit of compliance with pre-established and pre-agreed rules between the parties.

Several member states are already regulating the Corporate Anti-Corruption Law, with the State of Espírito Santo being the pioneer in creating a specific administrative structure within the Secretariat of Control and Transparency to exclusively handle its administrative accountability processes. The Corporate Anti-Corruption Law requires the implementation of a set of internal mechanisms and procedures aimed at detecting and remedying deviations, fraud, irregularities, and illicit acts committed against national or foreign public administration. It is in this context that a proper understanding of the meaning and objectives of the new legislation becomes fundamental, not only for businesses, which need to adapt with preventive measures, but also for professionals and students in the fields of law, management, auditing, economics, etc., who have before them a promising yet deficient and completely unexplored field in the Brazilian market.

Current technical-legal thinking, especially that linked to the theme of this research group project, must be based on the main theoretical and analytical models, while also adapting to the transformations imposed by the current pandemic and post-pandemic situation, new technologies, and the transnationalization of input, production, capital/finance, and consumer markets, as well as the human element.

The objective of the Compliance in the Pandemic and Post-Pandemic research group is precisely to debate, study, and research the most diverse themes and problems arising from the current pandemic context and the period after this phase, in a plural environment with a practical and theoretical approach, both nationally and internationally. The intention is to publish an e-book to disseminate knowledge and improve the understanding of the target audience, students, and clients of Compliance.
