The research group's main objective will be to reflect on the implications of new findings in behavioral science on law and empirical legal research. Behavioral science has emphasized that human conduct is subject to a series of cognitive biases that lead us to make decisions (including legal ones) based more on emotions, impressions, and dogmas than on rational, scientific, and factual criteria. In light of this diagnosis, some authors have emphasized the need for state intervention to encourage people to make decisions that overcome these biases and allow us to adopt more rational choices.
