The group is structured within a context where various initiatives have been undertaken globally to establish guidelines for the ethical use of artificial intelligence, with human well-being as its highest value.
With this, Ethics4AI aims to contribute to the development of know-how regarding ethical and trustworthy AI in Brazil, acting as a point of articulation between academics and representatives of the public, private and civil society sectors, developing, through collective construction, initiatives that contribute to the ethical development of AI in Brazil, such as online publications in Portuguese, guides and recommendations on AI ethics.
The research group aims to examine and discuss books, articles, and other materials that address the topic of developing ethical and reliable artificial intelligence, covering topics such as:
● the detection and correction of discriminatory biases present in the algorithms;
● debates surrounding surveillance through the use of artificial intelligence systems;
● the discussion regarding the fairness of automated decisions;
● The use of artificial intelligence by the Judiciary;
● the regulation and governance of artificial intelligence;
● The impact of artificial intelligence on contemporary societies
