The Constitutional Observatory is an open academic space for the production of knowledge and critical discussion, from the perspective of public law theory, on the functioning of the institutions of the Democratic Rule of Law, with the aim of offering proposals for institutional improvement.
The Constitutional Observatory was created in 2007 by Professor André Rufino do Vale, within the scope of the academic activities of the postgraduate program at the Brazilian Institute of Public Law (IDP), to be an open space for specific critical analysis of the activities of the Constitutional Courts of various countries and, especially, the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil. Therefore, initially established as an electronic journal with periodical publication, over the years it has evolved... Observatory of Constitutional Jurisdiction It expanded its scope to encompass research on the functioning of democratic institutions in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches. Thus, it came to be called simply the Constitutional Observatory, while maintaining the Observatory of Constitutional Jurisdiction as one of its research branches.
The Constitutional Observatory has a scientific journal (ISSN 1982-4564) and a weekly column on the Consultor Jurídico website, and ended up establishing its own... study and research group in the area of public law and legal theory that relates to the activities of democratic institutions in Brazil and other countries.
