Call for Papers for the Thematic Dossier “Artificial intelligence, ethics and epistemology”

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The call for papers is now open for the Thematic Dossier “Artificial Intelligence, Ethics and Epistemology” of the IDP's Public Law Journal, coordinated by our researchers together with professors Danilo Doneda and Miriam Wimmer.

This dossier is part of the activities of CEDIS/IDP and seeks to bring together theoretical and empirical studies that contribute to the debate about the ethical and epistemological issues associated with Artificial Intelligence.

Its objective is to contribute to fostering legal debate on the subject, focusing on two main aspects that deserve further exploration in the academic literature on the topic in Brazil:

1) Ethical aspects related to the use and development of AI systems with a high degree of autonomy. Issues of interest include, but are not limited to, investigations into the principles of transparency, fairness, non-discrimination, explainability, human oversight, and inclusion; the relationship between the ethical principles associated with AI and the principles and concepts developed in the field of personal data protection; and the ethical implications of the absence of human intervention or oversight in decisions made by autonomous systems with repercussions for fundamental rights.

2) Epistemological aspects related to Artificial Intelligence, especially with regard to the conditions that inform the cognitive capabilities of non-human agents compared to human ways of acquiring knowledge.

Preference will be given to articles that offer innovative contributions on the topic, including multidisciplinary approaches.

The Public Law Journal (RDP) is the official journal of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Law at the Brazilian Institute of Public Law (IDP). Currently, it is classified under Qualis A1 (Capes) and publishes articles in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and Italian.

The deadline for submitting articles is on 30 September 2021.
