In this program, doctoral students will engage with the study of constitutional principles and their repercussions in other branches of law, encompassing research on fundamental rights, constitutional procedure and jurisdiction, and proposing new interpretations of various areas of law in light of constitutional principles.
According to the course coordinator, João Paulo Bachur, a doctorate is a major step in the academic and professional life of a lawyer. “The doctorate allows for a very high level of academic qualification and opens doors to new professional paths. Furthermore, it also creates networking opportunities within the legal world for all legal professionals, regardless of their profession,” explains the academic.
The PhD program at IDP offers many advantages, such as:
1st – Pedagogical concept: We seek to understand and investigate the different branches of law starting from the structuring role of constitutional law, always with the aim of contributing to the solution of concrete problems in the country.
2nd – Methodology: The weekend format, with classes concentrated in bi-weekly meetings on Fridays and Saturdays, allows practicing professionals to combine their professional practice with their academic career.
3rd – Faculty: We have professors with outstanding academic profiles and experience as ministers of superior courts, judges, prosecutors, and renowned lawyers, including authors of reference works. All of this allows for high-level debates in the classroom.
4th – Internationalization: We regularly offer intensive courses abroad, giving master's and doctoral students who are working professionally the opportunity to experience international academic debate firsthand.
