The objective of the course is to clarify the practical and theoretical issues of the General Data Protection Law / Law 13.709, and it will be taught on December 13th and 14th, at Casa de Rui Barbosa in Rio de Janeiro.
Because it is a very new law, Dr. Laura Schertel Mendes, a professor at IDP, explains the importance of the course. “Especially since the law was sanctioned on August 14th and has not yet come into effect, it is a very new topic for Brazil. Therefore, these courses serve to broaden the legal community's knowledge regarding these issues and to discuss the content of the law with diverse audiences,” explains the professor.
The course will cover topics such as "Requirements for the Processing of Personal Data," "Principles of Personal Data Protection and Data Subject Rights," "Supervision and the National Data Protection Authority," among other essential subjects for people who work in, or simply want to learn about, the areas covered by the new law.
