IDP, in partnership with the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte – UFRN, is promoting an exchange program between law students from both universities in the first semester of 2019. The goal of the exchange is to provide students with academic mobility, allowing interaction with other institutions, participation in courses, extension projects, and research groups at the chosen universities, thus broadening their understanding of law.
IDP education specialist Lahis Rosa explains the importance of this type of experience for law students. The mobility program is important for the growth of the institution's academic community. Our knowledge networks are enriched by the perspectives of the students we receive and by the new insights developed by our students during their exchange.“The professor explains.
For IDP student Matheus de Moura, who will be spending the semester at UFRN, this experience is very enriching. “Stepping outside our comfort zone prepares us for the difficulties of professional life after college, and learning to deal with adversity helps in the student's personal and professional development. Although Brasília is already a hub for law, networking outside of it is important because it opens up new professional (and academic) possibilities, especially for those who want to practice law. It's a differentiating factor compared to other students because it takes the student out of the standard college-internship-college routine,” explains the student.
Bruno Oliveira, a student at UFRN, is one of the exchange students who will spend the semester at IDP and comments that the institution offers many possibilities and he wants to take full advantage of them. “In all areas of teaching, research, and outreach, IDP has a unique offering that I intend to utilize. A different perspective on Law, more related to the understanding of the higher courts, since IDP's faculty includes several ministers and advisors to ministers, lawyers, prosecutors, attorneys, and public defenders who work in these courts. A differentiated support outside the classroom, due to the way IDP approaches the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association), with the OAB Project and special topic classes, as well as the assistance in career planning, which is also a differentiating factor. Not to mention the numerous research and study groups,” explains the student.IDP already has a history of providing its students with national and international experiences, having already sent more than 30 undergraduate, graduate, and master's students on exchange programs through its emphasis on this type of experience among its students and partnerships with internationally renowned institutions in countries such as Spain, Italy, Portugal, the United States, and recently China.
