IDP has partnered with the University of Oklahoma (OU) in the United States to offer intensive programs aimed at IDP students, with preference given to master's and doctoral students. This initiative is part of the creation of a study program on Brazil at OU, and the University's intention to strengthen ties with the Brazilian academic and professional community, as well as the ongoing process of internationalizing IDP's postgraduate activities.

Participants will have the chance to experience the daily life of an American university and to get to know an important part of the country up close, outside the traditional tourist circuit.

For the 2019 edition, two courses will be offered (“Public Policies and Global Issues” and “Democracy Today”), totaling 80 hours of activities including in-person classes and guided readings. Classes will be in person and will take place in two 3-hour shifts (morning and afternoon), from July 28th to August 11th, 2019.

Classes will be taught in English. Although selection does not require proof of proficiency (TOEFL), it is essential that selected students have at least an intermediate level of English to fully benefit from the experience.

The assessment instruments will be defined jointly between OU and IDP, in order to be compatible with the requirements of the latter's programs. As English is not the participants' first language, the tendency is that short texts, such as critical reviews or opinion articles, will be requested, from which teachers can assess students' understanding of the topics covered in class. The deadline for submission of final assignments is September 11, 2019.

If the participant chooses to take only one of the courses, the total cost of the fees will remain the same.

Accommodation will be provided in the University's own facilities (Sooner Suites). Each unit has two bedrooms with a queen bed each, a bathroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. Amenities also include telephone, internet access, television, digital alarm system, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, maid service, and parking spaces.

Due to restrictions on the number of available spaces in the Sooner Suites, participants wishing to travel with family members will need to find accommodation in Norman's hotel network. Please inform the program coordinators of this situation when submitting your application so that the necessary adjustments can be made to your contract with the university's accommodation department.

The course coordination in Norman will facilitate participants' access to cultural programs, such as visits to museums and walks around the campus, as well as excursions to Oklahoma City, where students can shop and visit other museums, the zoo, etc. These programs are not included in the fees.
