IDP hosted prominent professionals from various areas of the Public Service to discuss with the students the "day-to-day" experience of being a government employee.
According to the event's creator, Dr. Diogo Ribeiro, Coordinator of the Public Administration course, the IDP course aims to demonstrate to students the possibilities of a career in public service. “The main goal is to help prospective students make a more informed decision about their degree and career. Generally, students will make these decisions based on family and close friends, but it's not always the opinion of a specialist working in that area, and the public sector is incredibly varied and encompasses all kinds of interests,” explains the Coordinator.
Among the students in the training course, 17 young people with hearing impairments attended. To ensure accessibility, IDP hired 2 sign language professionals.
Student Willer Barbosa was one of the students who attended the event and said that this type of inclusion is very important for the hearing impaired. "Today, deaf people have been fighting hard for their rights, and within the public service, I think they have greater opportunities in some specific areas, such as sign language, although there are still few. We believe that the public administration can offer more opportunities for us," the student commented.
Andreia Ferreira is a Public Administration student at IDP, has a hearing impairment, and comments on her experience with the college: “I spoke with the professors before classes started and explained my needs regarding needing to have the material in advance, explaining it in front of the class, because I read lips and my classmates also help me with the subjects,” concludes the student.
The Institute received approximately 80 people interested in building a career in public service during the two-day event.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″ el_class=”sideRightPost”][vc_widget_sidebar sidebar_id=”sidebar”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” equal_height=”yes” el_id=”courses-page-box-5″ css=”.vc_custom_1526064800224{margin-top: 0px !important;margin-bottom: 0px !important;background-image: url(http://homologacao.idp.edu.br/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/bn_contato_idp-1980×300-1.jpg?id=5274) !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}” el_class=”postCTA”][vc_column][themeum_action alignment=”left” title=”STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?” title_style=”customstyle” title_heading=”h2″ title_size=”20″ title_color=”#ffffff” title_weight=”800″ title_margin=”53px 0 0″ title_padding=”0″ btn_position=”btnright” btntext=”CONTACT US” btnurl=”/contact/” btntype=”white” btnsize=”btn-lg”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
