The event aims to host a roundtable discussion on the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), featuring speakers who directly participated in its legislative process, presenting their perspectives on the political and legal landscape of data protection. The event is free of charge.
According to Dr. Laura Schertel, a professor at IDP, it is important that this topic be debated due to the impact it can have on citizens' daily lives. "The question we want to discuss is what the impact of Provisional Measure 869 is on the topic of personal data protection and how actors from different sectors perceive this issue," explains the professor.
According to lawyer Fabrício da Mota Alves, the change of government raises questions about the matter. "Since we have a new government and a new legislature, it is crucial to understand how this will impact the construction and completion of the regulatory framework for data protection," explains the lawyer.
The event will feature the participation of former Deputy Chief of Parliamentary Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic, Mariângela Fialek; ABERT Consultant, Marcelo Bechara; Doctor of Civil Law and Adjunct Professor at IDP and UNB, Laura Schertel; Public Prosecutor and coordinator of the Personal Data Protection Commission of the MPDFT, Frederico Meinberg; and Professor of Data Protection and former parliamentary advisor in the Federal Senate, Fabrício da Mata Alves. Sérgio Alves, Master in Law and Technology from the University of California, will moderate the event.
