This postgraduate specialization course trains communication professionals to work in data-driven digital journalism.
With the characteristic innovative DNA of IDP (Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research), the new class of the MBA in Data Journalism will train communicators capable of operating digital communication tools that enable the creation of relevant stories, with reliable and visually appealing information. The course was developed by professionals with experience in the current communication market, with the aim of offering students the best in data-driven journalism. The course includes two certificates: one in Data Journalism Programming, awarded after approximately half of the course, and another, at the end of the course, in Data Journalism, a certificate recognized by the MEC (Brazilian Ministry of Education).
The MBA format allows students to efficiently balance their professional lives with course activities. With synchronous classes and practical activities on alternating weekends, working students can complete their specialization normally.applying The concepts and techniques learned in the IDP course are applied at work. With a very practical focus, students actively participate throughout the course in meetings with teachers and tutors.
IDP's teaching methodology prepares students according to what is truly needed in communication agencies. The total course workload is 430 hours. An important aspect is that the only prerequisite for enrollment is a higher education diploma. All students receive basic content in Python programming, Mathematics, and Statistics before the start of classes, for an initial leveling that will help in the course's progression. In addition, the first classes cover the fundamentals of data journalism to complement the students' leveling before the core curriculum subjects.
“We’ve brought together in a single robust program several skills that a data journalist needs to develop and can only find in isolated and disconnected training programs. We go from zero to practical application, covering all the necessary tools for data capture, cleaning, analysis, and visualization in different formats. It’s a very complete cycle,” explains Bárbara Libório, MBA coordinator.
One of the highlights of the course is the faculty with extensive experience.age In the context of digital communication, all instructors were chosen to offer students contact with professionals working in the market, in the most didactic way possible. Therefore, the course instructors have one foot in academia and the other in the market. With a teaching methodology based on projects and a lot of hands-on experience, students are able to extract the maximum learning from these instructors.

IDP has sales consultants available to assist and answer any questions about the selection process or the course.
