During January, IDP students Mariana Aquino, Mateus Cruz, Roberto Raony, and Amanda Falluh had the opportunity to intern at major law firms in São Paulo through the first IDP Internship program. From January 21st to February 08th, the students were challenged within the largest law firm in the country and worked in nationally and internationally renowned firms, such as... Machado Meyer Advogados and Mundie Advogados.
Eighth-semester student Amanda Falluh explains that the experience was her first contact with an internship at a law firm. “My primary goal in applying to the program was to experience the environment of a law firm, having only interned in public institutions and private companies. This goal was certainly fulfilled by interning at one of the largest and most reputable law firms in Brazil,” explains the undergraduate.
The student adds that the IDP Internship also allowed her to develop an affinity for a new area of law. “Even with so many positive aspects, I believe the most valuable thing for me, especially, was getting to know an area of law that I identified with 100%: Infrastructure. I intend to deepen my studies in this area and, regardless of the career I may eventually pursue, work in this branch of law,” concludes the student.
According to the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, Lahis Rosa, this type of experience allows students to broaden their horizons. “This type of project is important for students to learn about other perspectives on law; immersion in other institutions opens up a universe of new possibilities. Furthermore, when students go to other states, they expand their contacts, experience, and field of vision,” explains the professor.
