It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jurist and Professor Antôno Augusto Cançado Trindade, Judge of the International Court of Justice, this Sunday, May 29, 2022, in Brasília.
Professor Cançado Trindade leaves behind a vast body of work dedicated to International Law and Human Rights. In addition to serving as a Judge in The Hague since 2009, he was a Judge on the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, a tribunal he presided over. He was Professor Emeritus at the University of Brasília, Professor at the Rio Branco Institute, a member of the Institut de Droit International, and a member of the Brazilian Academy of Legal Letters.
