The text highlights the need for the Brazilian government to establish the ANPD (National Data Protection Authority) immediately, in order to guide society on its application. Based on a detailed analysis of the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) and its regulations that require greater clarity and specification, the report analyzes priority aspects to be considered by the ANPD, in order to optimize its initial resources and obtain the most effective results for the protection of personal data in Brazil.
This report is the first in a series of texts and materials to be produced within the scope of the IDP/CIPL project "Effective Implementation and Regulation of the LGPD". The project aims to assist in the consistent implementation of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) by fostering debate and sharing information and best practices. To this end, the project involves the participation of data protection experts from Brazil and around the world, as well as representatives from companies, law firms, the public sector, and civil society.
