CEDIS, in partnership with CIPL, has just launched the third article of the Special Joint Project "Effective LGPD". This project aims to: facilitate the sharing of information about the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law); inform and promote its implementation in a constructive, prospective and consistent manner; enable the sharing of experiences and best practices in the industry; and promote effective regulatory strategies.
This article addresses these challenges by leveraging the experience and best practices of mature multinational organizations subject to the obligation to appoint a data protection officer under other data protection laws. The ultimate goal of this article is to assist: i. Organizations in understanding the importance of the data protection officer's role within the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) and the relevant aspects that should be considered when creating the data protection officer role within the organization; and ii. The ANPD (Brazilian National Data Protection Authority) in effectively addressing the concerns and challenges of organizations when drafting its supplementary rules on the responsibilities of the data protection officer.
