The 8th edition of the Brazilian Conference on Data Journalism and Digital Methods (Coda.Br) recognized the finalists for Brazil's largest data journalism award, the Cláudio Weber Abramo Prize, on November 19th. Among the selected works is the report "Revealing and organizing the corporate credit card invoices of all former Brazilian presidents," which features contributions from IDP's MBA in Data Journalism professors Bruno Morassutti and Taís Seibt, as well as our former student, [Name missing]. Winner in the Open Data category, the award-winning report was used in over a thousand news stories in media outlets worldwide. According to Taís, professor of the Methodology and Workflow with Data course, the great success was due to the collaborative work of several professionals: "It was necessary to mobilize many journalist partners in this task force to digitize the invoices so that more journalists, from all over the country, could have access to this information," explains Taís.

Also awarded, the project "Amazon Underworld," which includes the participation of another MBA professor, Juan Torres, was recognized in the Investigation category. The work brings together reports from 37 journalists that shed light on organized crime in the world's largest rainforest and allows for mapping the presence of armed groups on the Amazonian borders. Juan is a professor of the Low Code course: transforming data into news stories.
The 5th edition of the Cláudio Weber Abramo Data Journalism Award is part of an initiative of the School of Data and has a judging panel composed of renowned professionals in the field, including our professor, Júlia Giannella.
