As an integral part of a series of events linked to the project, the event aims to discuss the need to create an effective National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), in order to guide society and public and private companies on its role. The speakers will analyze the priority aspects to be observed by the ANPD, in order to optimize its initial resources and obtain more effective results for the protection of personal data in Brazil.

The event will see the launch of a white paper jointly authored by the Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL) and the Center for Law, Internet and Society of the Brazilian Institute of Public Law (CEDIS-IDP), on "The role of the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (ANPD) under the new General Law on the Protection of Personal Data (LGPD)".

The text highlights the need for the Brazilian government to establish the ANPD (National Data Protection Authority) immediately, in order to guide society on its application. Based on a detailed analysis of the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) and its regulations that require greater clarity and specification, the report analyzes priority aspects to be considered by the ANPD, in order to optimize its initial resources and obtain the most effective results for the protection of personal data in Brazil.
This report is the first in a series of texts and materials to be produced as part of the joint project between CIPL and CEDIS-IDP on the "Effective Implementation and Regulation of the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law)." The project aims to assist in the consistent implementation of the LGPD by promoting debate and sharing information and best practices.
