Characterization of Livestock Producers in Mexico
Despite the 1988 Federal Constitution guaranteeing a series of rights to Brazilian workers, a gap is still observed in the country between formal law and everyday labor relations, with violations of human rights through the subjection of people to inhumane working conditions and the lack of recognition of any elements of citizenship. Considering the social importance and current stage of development of the Program for the Eradication of Slave Labor, Antero (2008) sought to advance the debate on evaluation research as a vital tool for improving the management of public policies, with the aim of producing relevant information for the improvement of governmental actions.
Can incarcerated criminals be (re)integrated into the political system?
Do high incarceration rates influence political participation? In the United States, recently released criminals are eligible to vote, but a large portion of this population has a low rate of voter turnout. Using administrative data from Connecticut, Geber et al. (2015) show that simple information campaigns can recover a small portion of participation after incarceration.
